For years, companies may have turned to organizations that help others build a brand for themselves. This has resulted in meetings that go on and on, taking up time away from other tasks that need to be completed. This time spent at these meetings adds up, both in hours and in costs. Along with the cost of hiring a branding firm to do all of this for you, it gets to be pretty spendy.
With the rise of AI, it is getting easier for any individual to take on tasks that they may not have had the knowledge to do before (and at MUCH faster speeds). I have worked with AI for a while now, whether it be for work, or personal, and I thought, "Maybe there's a way I could help others with the small amount of knowledge I have on this."
It's true, not many people know how to work Artificial Intelligence...some people fear it, some don't trust it, some just flat out don't like it. And that's okay. But for anyone who wants to learn how to use it to better themselves as individuals or be a better employee/business owner/whatever it is you are going for, I hope this can help you out!
First off, what is a brand?
A brand is the personality of a business. How it treats people, how it wants to be seen as to others. You may have heard that businesses get treated as people, and sometimes, that is very true. Ants work together to cross streams of water by forming a bridge for others to get safely across. Bees communicate with each other to always know where the hive is. A business works with its employees and grows to have it's own personality. Really a crazy thought when you think about it.
What is a brand identity?
Now let's take that brand and start adding some values to it, much like you might see in yourself or another person. Is the business fun? More professional? Do they like to keep interactions with customers light-hearted (like an arcade), or is a more solemn tone needed (such as a funeral home)? Is there a message you want to get across to your customers/clients, something that they will remember after they have left your business? Do you want them to leave with a sense of "I'm glad I went there, I gotta make sure others know who to turn to!" and how are you going to accomplish that?
Here comes the AI part
I came up with this prompt for ChatGPT (feel free to use any other service!) to help others find their brand identity (and also give ideas for potential logos). I hope it can come of use to you. Just copy/paste it into the AI service, and it will turn around and ask you some questions. Answer it like you are talking to another person. Make mistakes in your writing style if that is who you are. Much like this blog is written, it's not perfect grammar, but it is in my voice. This prompt will recognize that voice that you have, and so sometimes the more you write in your responses, the better it's going to turn out for you. I am working on creating my personal brand. Please ask me the following questions one at a time. After I answer all the questions, combine my responses into a single sentence that acts as a mission statement to define my personal brand. Once the mission statement is created, use it to provide suggestions for:
Brand Identity: Recommend key themes, ideas, or concepts that would align with my personal brand.
Personality: Describe how my personal brand could be expressed through tone, messaging, and communication style.
Logo Concept Ideas: Suggest possible logo ideas, including colors, shapes, and general aesthetics, that reflect the mission statement and my personal brand values.
Here are the questions:
TYPE OF JOB/POSITION YOU ARE AIMING FORAsk me: What type of job are you looking for, and who do you aim to serve as your audience, customers, or clients?
UNDERLYING VALUES/CORE VALUESAsk me: What do you feel are the strongest points of your skills? What are the key areas where you excel, and what abilities are most important in your profession?
DISTINGUISHING VALUES: WHAT DEFINES YOU?Ask me: What differentiates you from others in your field? What motivates you, and what do you do better than anyone else? (Include aspirational qualities if applicable.)
TONE/EXPRESSION: PERCEPTIONAsk me: How do you come across to others? What impression do people typically have of you before they truly get to know you? Reflect on feedback from others and avoid guessing based on your self-perception.
PERSONALITY: REALITYAsk me: What are you truly like as a person? Where do you feel you struggle, and where do you excel? How do you want people to see you?
WHAT IS YOUR OVERALL GOAL?Ask me: What do you hope to achieve as an employee, businessperson, or individual? How do you want every customer or client to feel after interacting with you?
Once I’ve answered all of these questions, combine my responses into a single, concise mission statement that reflects my personal brand. Use this mission statement to provide suggestions for brand identity, personality, and logo concept ideas (including colors, shapes, etc.).
And if it worked for you, feel free to share it with others! My goal is to help others with the free options I have found, because it may hopefully help someone make the world a better place! And hey, when it comes to designing that logo, I'd love to hear about it and potentially work with you!
All the best!
